Hybrid breast augmentation in Korea
Hybrid breast augmentation pairs an implant, which gives most of the size, with your own fat, moved by liposuction to soften the implant’s edges. It suits thin breast tissue or a hollow upper breast. Who is a good candidate for hybrid breast augmentation?
- You want a bigger change than fat alone can give, with a softer outline than an implant alone
- Your breast tissue is thin, so the edge of an implant might be easy to see or feel
- Your upper breast looks hollow after weight loss or with age, even though your breasts were never small. The clinic lists this among its reasons
- You have some spare fat on the abdomen, waist or thighs that can be moved
When it may not be the right choice
- You are very lean, with too little fat to take. An implant alone may be the simpler choice
- You would rather have nothing implanted. Fat transfer alone avoids an implant but adds less size
- Your breasts sag markedly. Neither the implant nor the fat lifts them, so a breast lift may be needed
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding, or your weight is still changing
Which method fits you?
The clinic offers three ways to add volume. They differ in how much size they give, how the edges look and feel, and what stays in the body.

What happens on the day of hybrid breast augmentation?
- Consultation. The surgeon checks how thick your breast tissue is, how much fat you can spare and where to take it from, then you agree the implant model, size, incision and placement.
- General anesthesia or sedation. Fat is taken by liposuction through small openings, which the clinic says it keeps few and hidden.
- The implant goes in, then the cleaned fat is injected in small amounts across several layers. The clinic places more in the upper breast to shape the cleavage. It lists no drain; ask how long the combined operation takes.
- No overnight stay is planned: you leave in a support garment with compression over the donor areas. Ask for the implant record with model, size and serial number.
What is recovery like after hybrid breast augmentation?
- Days 1 to 3
- Two areas heal at once: the chest is tight and swollen, and the donor areas are bruised and sore. Wear the support and compression garments.
- Days 3 to 4
- Most people manage light daily activities again.
- Days 7 to 8
- Check-up at the clinic for the breasts and the donor areas, usually before you fly.
- Week 2
- Around 2 weeks, the stitches are due out. If you have flown home by then, the plan made in Seoul covers who removes them.
- The following months
- The implant settles, some of the fat is reabsorbed and swelling fades, so the final shape takes some months to show.
How long should you stay in Seoul after hybrid breast augmentation?
The first days are the slowest: the chest and the places the fat came from both need rest and compression. Plan 7 to 10 days, and leave after the surgeon has seen both areas on day 7 or 8. Keep the compression garment on for the flight, walk the aisle and drink water. Agree before booking who removes the stitches at about 2 weeks, and which of the clinic’s 3 to 4 visits fall in Seoul. Tell the clinic promptly if a donor area becomes hot, hard or very swollen. If you become breathless, have chest pain, or one leg becomes painful and swollen, get emergency care first, then tell the clinic, and do not fly until a doctor says it is safe.
What are the risks of hybrid breast augmentation?
- Capsular contracture, rupture or a silent leak: the implant risks still apply. The FDA says breast implants are not lifetime devices
- Part of the fat is reabsorbed, and how much stays varies, so the two sides can end up uneven
- Fat that does not survive can form firm lumps or oil cysts and calcifications that show on mammograms. Tell anyone who screens your breasts about the fat
- Dents, lumps or numbness in the donor areas
- Bleeding, fluid collection, infection, or changes in breast and nipple sensation
- BIA-ALCL, a lymphoma that can develop around implants, found more often with textured surfaces. See a doctor promptly for swelling or a lump, even years later
- A blood clot in the legs or lungs, a risk that grows with a long flight in the first days, plus the risks of anesthesia
What affects the cost of hybrid breast augmentation in Korea?
A hybrid quote has two parts: the implant (model, size and incision) and the fat (how many areas it comes from and how much is moved), with the anesthesia on top. This page has no price yet. The surgeon looks at photos of your breasts and possible donor areas before the clinic quotes. The written quote should list the surgeon, the implant model, the donor areas, the garments, follow-up visits and stitch removal.

What is the difference between hybrid and fat transfer breast augmentation?
Fat transfer uses only your own fat, so the change is modest and part of the fat is reabsorbed. A hybrid adds an implant for most of the size and uses fat to soften the edges. You take on the risks of both an implant and fat grafting.
How much of the fat stays after a hybrid augmentation?
It varies. The implant keeps its size, so as the fat settles only the outline changes. Some of the grafted fat is reabsorbed, and the two sides can settle differently. Ask the surgeon how an uneven result would be handled and when the shape is judged.
Where is the fat taken from, and are there scars?
Usually from the abdomen, waist or thighs, through small openings. The clinic says it keeps them few and places them where they are hard to see. You will also have the implant incision. Ask to see where each mark will go.
Is hybrid augmentation the same as composite breast augmentation?
Yes, the two names describe the same idea: an implant plus fat grafting in one operation. A systematic review of composite augmentation reported a trend toward small amounts of fat, placed mainly along the inner edge of the breast.
