Face liposuction in Korea
Face liposuction removes fat from the cheeks, jawline and under the chin through small cuts behind the ears or beneath the chin, for a slimmer lower face. It suits fullness from fat, with skin that is still firm. At our partner clinic it takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour under sedation; plan 7 to 10 days in Seoul.
Who is a good candidate for face liposuction?
- Your face looks full or heavy because of fat in the cheeks or along the jaw, which the clinic lists as the main reason
- Fat along the jawline is starting to sag and blur the line between cheek and jaw
- Your skin is still firm enough to shrink back once the fat is gone
- You want a slimmer lower face without bone surgery
When it may not be the right choice
- The width comes from the jaw bone or a large chewing muscle. Removing fat will not change those
- Your face is already lean. Taking more fat can leave it hollow and look older
- Your skin hangs loosely. Without tightening, it may not shrink back, so a lift may suit you better
- The fullness sits deep in the cheek rather than under the skin. Buccal fat removal treats that layer
Which method fits you?
Several operations slim the lower face, and they work on different layers. Which one fits depends on where the fullness sits and how firm your skin is, and some people combine two.
| Method | What happens | Suits | Downtime |
|---|---|---|---|
| Face liposuction | Cheek and jawline liposuction remove fat just under the skin with a fine cannula, through small cuts behind the ears or under the chin. | Fat in the cheeks and along the jaw, with firm skin | About a week to daily life; stitches out at day 7 to 10 |
| Double chin surgery | Liposuction under the chin, sometimes with the neck muscle stitched tighter through a short cut there. | Fullness mainly under the chin, or a loose neck muscle | Depends on the method |
| Buccal fat removal | A deeper pad of cheek fat is taken out through a small cut inside the mouth. | Round lower cheeks from deep fat rather than fat under the skin | No skin incision; swelling inside the cheek |

What happens on the day of face liposuction?
- Consultation. The surgeon maps the fat in your cheeks, along the jaw and under the chin, checks how firm the skin is and agrees how much to remove in each area.
- Sedation. Tiny cuts are made in places that are hard to see, such as behind the ears or under the chin.
- A fine cannula removes fat from the marked areas. The clinic lists about 30 minutes to 1 hour for this.
- The cuts are closed with small stitches, and the surgeon may put a compression band on. No overnight stay is needed, so you head back to your hotel afterwards.
What is recovery like after face liposuction?
- Days 1 to 3
- The cheeks and jaw are swollen, bruised and tender. Wear the compression band as advised and sleep with your head raised.
- Day 7
- Daily routines are usually back, according to the clinic, though swelling still shows.
- Days 7 to 10
- The stitches behind the ears or under the chin come out at the clinic.
- Weeks 2 to 6
- Swelling keeps going down. The skin can feel firm, lumpy or numb for a while.
- Months 3 to 6
- Most swelling has settled and the new contour shows.
How long should you stay in Seoul after face liposuction?
Plan 7 to 10 days in Seoul. The clinic lists no routine check-ups, but the small stitches come out at day 7 to 10, so book the flight after that visit. Swelling is usually still visible on the plane; wear the compression band if the surgeon advises it. If one side of your face or the area under your jaw swells fast, or you have trouble breathing or swallowing, or chest pain, get emergency care first, then tell the clinic.
What are the risks of face liposuction?
- Uneven contours, dents, ripples or asymmetry, which may need further treatment
- Changes in skin sensation, which may persist
- Injury to a facial nerve branch, which can weaken part of the lower lip or face
- Bleeding under the skin (hematoma) or fluid collection. A collection of blood under the jaw can press on the airway
- Loose skin, or a hollow, older look if too much fat is taken
- Infection, visible scars at the entry points, and the risks of sedation
What affects the cost of face liposuction in Korea?
A face liposuction quote depends on how many areas are treated (cheeks, jawline, under the chin), whether fat grafting or a lift is added, and the sedation. Our pages carry no prices yet, so the clinic quotes after seeing photos of your face. Check that the quote names the surgeon and lists the areas, the compression band and the stitch visit.
More questions
Can fat come back after face liposuction?
The fat left in your face can still grow if you gain weight, and the face keeps aging, so the change is not fixed for life. Keeping your weight steady helps it last. Ask the surgeon how much fat will be left in each area.
What is the difference between face liposuction and buccal fat removal?
They treat different fat. Face liposuction, including cheek liposuction, removes fat just under the skin of the cheeks and jaw through small cuts behind the ears or under the chin. Buccal fat removal takes out a deeper pad of cheek fat through the mouth. Some faces need one, some need both.
How long does swelling last after face liposuction?
Bruising usually fades over the first weeks, but the contour keeps changing as swelling goes down over several months. In the first days the face can look puffier than before surgery, which is expected.
Can face liposuction be combined with fat grafting?
It can be, if the surgeon judges that it suits your face. Some people have fat removed from one area and added to hollow areas in the same session; ask how that changes the recovery.
