Arm liposuction in Korea
Arm liposuction removes fat from the upper arms, and often from the armpit and bra line, through small cuts. It suits firm skin and fat you can pinch; skin that hangs loosely may need an arm lift instead. Our partner clinic lists up to 1 hour under sedation and daily life right away; allow about 7 nights in Seoul.
Who is a good candidate for arm liposuction?
- Fat on the back and underside of your upper arms has not gone despite diet and exercise
- The fullness carries on toward the armpit or the bra line, which the clinic assesses together with the arm
- Your skin springs back when you pinch it, so it can shrink over a slimmer arm
- You are healthy and close to a weight you can keep steady
When it may not be the right choice
- Skin hangs in a fold when you hold your arm out. Liposuction does not remove skin, and an arm lift (brachioplasty), which leaves a scar on the inner arm, may suit you better
- Your arms look large mainly because of muscle rather than fat
- A firm lump in the armpit swells or aches with your period. That may be accessory breast tissue, which liposuction alone may not remove, so a doctor should examine it first
- You have a condition that slows healing or affects clotting, or you take a blood thinner you cannot pause
Which method fits you?
Where the fat sits and how firm the skin is decide which approach fits. The clinic says it looks at the amount of arm fat, skin elasticity, fat near the armpit and whether there is accessory breast tissue before it plans the arms.
| Method | What happens | Suits | Downtime |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upper arm liposuction | Upper arm liposuction takes fat from the back and inner side of the arm with a thin cannula, keeping an even layer under the skin. | Pinchable fat on the upper arms, with firm skin | Daily life right away; stitches out at about 1 week |
| Arms with the armpit and bra line | The clinic’s area map runs from the inner armpit to the bra line, so fat there can be treated in the same session as the arms. | Fullness that continues from the arm onto the side of the chest | More area to heal; ask how the garment will cover it |
| Arm lift (brachioplasty) | Loose skin and fat are cut away through an incision on the inner arm, often together with liposuction. | Skin that hangs when the arm is raised | A longer inner-arm scar and a slower recovery than liposuction; the partner clinic does not list it, so ask the coordinator first |
What happens on the day of arm liposuction?
- Consultation. The surgeon pinches the fat, watches how the skin behaves with your arms raised and lowered, and checks the armpit and bra line.
- Sedation, then a few small cuts in places that are easy to hide. Ask where yours will be.
- Numbing fluid goes in first. A thin cannula then removes fat between the skin and the muscle; the clinic lists up to 1 hour and describes the work as done by hand with fine cannulas.
- Each cut gets a stitch, you put on a compression garment, and you go back to your hotel that day. No drain is used.
What is recovery like after arm liposuction?
- Days 1 to 3
- The arms are swollen, bruised and sore, and lifting them above your head feels stiff. Some fluid may seep from the cuts; tell the clinic if it increases or smells.
- First week
- The clinic lists daily life right away. Keep to light tasks and avoid carrying heavy bags with the treated arms.
- Day 7
- Stitch removal and a check at the clinic; the surgeon looks at both arms for swelling and fluid before you fly home.
- Weeks 2 to 6
- Keep the garment on for as long as the surgeon advises. The skin can feel lumpy or numb while it settles.
- Months 1 to 6
- Swelling fades and the slimmer outline shows, often within about 3 months; some arms take up to 6 months.
How long should you stay in Seoul after arm liposuction?
Plan about 7 nights in Seoul for arm liposuction. The stitch check falls at about 1 week, and sore arms make packing and lifting a suitcase awkward in the first days, so ask for help with heavy bags at the airport. On the flight, keep the compression garment on, stand up and walk when the seat belt sign is off, and drink water, because clots are a risk after liposuction. If you become breathless or have chest pain, get emergency care first, then tell the clinic.
What are the risks of arm liposuction?
- Dents, ripples or a lumpy surface, more likely if too much fat is taken from the arm, sometimes needing a touch-up
- Skin that looks looser once the fat is gone, especially if it was already lax
- One arm ending up a little different from the other
- Numbness or changes in skin feeling over the upper arm, which can last for months
- Fluid collecting under the skin (seroma), bleeding or infection
- Blood clots in the legs that can travel to the lungs (deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism)
- The risks of sedation
What affects the cost of arm liposuction in Korea?
An arm liposuction quote depends on whether the armpit and bra line are included, whether other areas are added in the same session, the anesthesia and the compression garment. We show no price yet, because the clinic quotes after seeing photos of your arms. A patient coordinator answers first, then the surgeon at the partner clinic that fits your case reviews your photos and consults in depth. For arm liposuction, a useful quote names the surgeon and lists each area, the garment and the stitch removal visit. Our consultation is free for you, and you pay only the clinic’s own price for treatment.
More questions
Does arm liposuction get rid of flabby arms?
It removes fat, so it helps when the fullness is fat under firm skin. It does not remove skin. If the skin hangs when you hold your arm out, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons describes an arm lift as the operation that removes it, with a scar on the inner arm.
Can the armpit and bra line be treated with the arms?
Yes. The clinic’s area map runs from the inner armpit to the bra line. If a lump there feels firm or changes with your period, it may be extra breast tissue, which liposuction alone may not remove, so ask the surgeon to examine it first.
When can I lift things and exercise after arm liposuction?
Light daily tasks can continue, according to the clinic. Ask the surgeon before lifting heavy bags, and when upper body workouts can restart; it depends on how much was treated.
Where are the scars after upper arm liposuction?
The cuts are small and are placed where they are easy to hide, so ask the surgeon to show you where yours will go. They fade over months but do not disappear completely.
