Who is a good candidate for hip and buttock liposuction?

When it may not be the right choice

You want larger or rounder buttocks. This operation only removes fat; adding fat to the buttocks is a different operation that the clinic’s buttock page does not describe
Your buttocks already sag over the fold beneath them. Removing fat, especially from the roll just under the fold, can make sagging worse
The fullness you mean is at the sides of the waist (love handles). That is planned with abdominal liposuction

Which method fits you?

On this page, the hips are the outer curve below the waist, where the upper thigh meets the buttock, not the love handles at the sides of the waist. What happens on the day of hip and buttock liposuction?

Consultation. You stand while the surgeon marks the side bulges and looks at the fold under each buttock and how much the buttocks sag.
Anesthesia. Ask which type the clinic plans for your buttocks and how long the operation will take.
You lie face down while numbing fluid is injected and the surgeon suctions the fat through small cuts.
Stitches close the cuts and a garment is fitted over the hips and buttocks to limit swelling. The clinic does not use a drain.

What is recovery like after hip and buttock liposuction?

Days 1 to 3: Sitting and lying on your back press on sore, bruised areas. A cushion, and lying on your side or front, can help.
First week: The clinic lists daily life right away, but a long drive or a day of sitting is still uncomfortable.
Day 7: The stitches come out at about 1 week.
Weeks 2 to 6: Keep wearing the garment. The skin may feel firm, lumpy or numb for a while.
Months 1 to 6: The curve shows as swelling fades, often by about 3 months and sometimes not until 6.

How long should you stay in Seoul after hip and buttock liposuction?

Book about 7 nights in Seoul, with the flight after the stitch visit at about 1 week. Long hours in a seat press on the treated area and make leg clots more likely, so on the plane wear the garment, get up and walk when you can, and drink water. A seat cushion can make the flight easier. If you become breathless or have chest pain, get emergency care first, then tell the clinic.

What are the risks of hip and buttock liposuction?

A flattened or sagging buttock if too much fat is taken, especially from just under the fold, which is hard to correct later
Uneven sides, dents or ripples
Numbness or changes in skin feeling
Seroma (trapped fluid), bleeding under the skin or infection
Deep vein thrombosis or a clot reaching the lungs, made more likely by long periods of sitting
